Anthony Smith, 42, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to possess a weapon, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said in a release on Monday, Sept. 12.

Investigators found Smith, of Trenton, to be the gunman who shot and killed Rasheed Barlow, 35, and a 38-year-old man, on the 200 block of Spring Street around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, DailyVoice.com reported.

Barlow was pronounced dead a short time later, while the 38-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, authorities said.

Smith was taken into custody in Hackensack by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force on Thursday, Sept. 8. A motion has been filed to detain Smith pending trial.

The investigation was led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department.
